Tour Schedule
Lake Biwa is Japan's largest freshwater lake and the oldest lake in Japan, with a long history of approximately 4 million years. We will go around the outer circumference and finally return by crossing the Biwako Ohashi Bridge.
Approximately 500 metasequoia trees are planted over a 2.4 km stretch, blending in with the distant view of the Nosaka Mountains, creating a plateau-like landscape as an approach road to the Makino Plateau.
Kaizu-Osaki is a 4-kilometer road around the lake, and about 800 Yoshino trees, ranging from old Somei Yoshino trees over 80 years old to young trees, create a tunnel of cherry blossoms. Kaizu in the spring and Metase in the fall are the classic routes in Shiga Prefecture.
Shirahige Shrine is the oldest shrine in Omi, also known as Omi's Itsukushima. He is also the ``God of guidance'' in all human endeavors and deeds. The torii gate floating on Lake Biwa is a spectacular sight.
This castle, built in 1622 (Genna 8), is famous for its beauty and high military functionality, which showcased the majesty of the Edo Shogunate. Hikone Castle, which offers a panoramic view of Lake Biwa from its castle tower, took approximately 20 years to complete.
